Joe Schilz, CPA
Joe has spent his entire professional career in the accounting business, establishing his practice in 1987 after working for four years as an auditor for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
Joe is a Muskego native and high school graduate, and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from UW-Whitewater in 1983, with a major in Accounting. Joe and his wife Jackie have three daughters, Gina, Abby, and Josie.
Brian Dziak, CPA
Brian is long-time team member, joining us in 1993 after earning his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Marquette University in 1991.
Brian is a business expert, specializing in management consulting and tax planning for small-to-medium sized companies. He has over thirty years’ experience working with and consulting to privately-held companies and S-corporations, typically performing vital services like reviewing financial statements and performing tax planning and preparation.
Nick Banach, CPA
Nick has over 10 years of experience in public accounting, including individual and business tax planning & preparation, tax resolution, financial reporting, and consulting. He graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a majors in Accounting and Finance.
Away from the office, Nick enjoys staying active, with a few of his favorite activities being running (including chasing after his puppy), golfing, and snowboarding.
Rebecca Miller, CB, CPA, CFE
Becky has more than 20 years of experience working with small business owners. She graduated from Empire State College with BS in Accounting and has since earned a certificate in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Becky is licensed in both Wisconsin and Illinois, and she is advanced certified in both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.
When she’s not busy in the office, Becky can be found outside spending time with her family, tending to her ever-expanding garden, or cheering on the Brewers.

Nick Johnson, EA
Nick specializes in individual and business tax preparation at Joseph A. Schilz, S.C. He graduated from UW-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Accounting and earned his Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from UW-Parkside.
Nick is also a fully licensed Financial Advisor. He works with business owners to establish employer-sponsored retirement plans, along with individuals looking to plan for their financial future, and those thinking about retirement. He finds that tax planning and financial planning hold an important relationship with one another.
Nick enjoys spending time with his wife two daughters. Whether it’s trying new restaurants, wandering off on spontaneous road trips, or checking things off the bucket list, Nick and his family are always on the go!
Zafar Saleem
“Zafar joined the J.A. Schilz team in October 2023. He graduated with a master’s in economics from Punjab University Pakistan, with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance. Zafar is well-versed in creating and reviewing financial statements. He has a caring personality and is always looking for ways to improve processes and quality of work.
Zafar enjoys spending time with his family, helping others/volunteering, trying different restaurants, going on road trips, working out, and learning new things.”
Josh Karfonta
Josh joined the team as of April 2022. He recently graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a Major in Management and a Minor in Finance. He is eager to learn and grow in the accounting and finance industry.
Outside of the office Josh is a big sports fan, cheering on all Wisconsin’s professional and amateur sports teams. Other interests include outdoor activities like, boating, ATVing and hunting.
Kathy Rendflesh
Kathy lives with her husband, Wayne in South Milwaukee. They have two grown daughters who live in the Milwaukee area.
Kathy enjoys spending time with family and friends.
